Madeleine Plant, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 84, in Castlegar, BC. Born on June 25, 1940, in Barrow-in-Furness, England, Madeleine's formative years were spent in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she developed the vibrant spirit that would define her throughout her life.

Madeleine was known for her warmth and her deep love for her family, with her grandchildren being a special joy to her. She was a woman of many talents and passions, notably a gifted dancer. In 1957, she became the All Ireland Ballroom and Latin American Dancing Champion, a feat she was immensely proud of. Her love for dancing stayed with her throughout her life, and she continued to enjoy it in her later years.

In 1972, Madeleine and her family moved to Castlegar, BC, where she soon became a cherished member of the community. As a local businesswoman, she was the proud owner of two successful ladies' dress shops, "Update Fashions" and "Madeleine's of Course," where she built lasting relationships with her customers and friends.

In retirement, Madeleine's vibrant spirit remained ever-present. She enjoyed a full social life, staying active through golf, dancing, and participating in the local "gym ladies" group. She and her beloved husband spent 10 wonderful winters in Palm Springs, where they made many cherished memories. A lover of cruising, Madeleine saw much of the world, always with a joyful heart and an infectious laugh.

Madeleine's life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at her home, 3741 Williston Road, Castlegar. The event will be catered, and the family invites friends and loved ones to join them in remembering and honoring the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness, warmth, and enduring love.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
