Maria Argene Filomena Stefani Donati Lera, known affectionately as Argene, passed away on January 28, 2022 at 77 years old. She was born in Lucca, Italy and immigrated to Canada when she was a child, settling in Trail in Annabel with her parents, Rosalina and Giulio Lera.
Argene was a beloved member of the Trail community and spent the last years of her life at Rose Wood Village in Waneta. She was always known for her impeccable sense of style and creativity. She loved to crochet. In her early years, she was a nurse and loved caring for others through her work. In her later years, she continued to take care of those in need (even though they weren't much older than she was).
Argene is survived by her two daughters: Julie (Budd) Legree and Alice (Michael) Santurri, and by her loving grandchildren: Alexandra (Cory) Geho, Brandon, and Colton Legree. She is also survived by her sister, Maria Orsola (Carroll) Masini, and brother: Attilio Lera, plus loving nieces, nephews, and a host of long- time friends.
A private ceremony will be held for family members. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Argene's memory can be made to either the Trail Salvation Army Food Bank or the Trail United Church Food Bank.
