April 3, 1930 - December 9, 2020
To have, to hold and then to part is the greatest sorrow of our hearts.
It is with heavy hearts and many tears we announce the passing of Maria Della Siega (née Vadori) on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the age of 90.
Maria was born in Morsano, al Tagliamento, Italy, on April 3, 1930. She immigrated to Canada to join her husband Paolo in 1952 with their eldest daughter Bruna who was still an infant.
The family settled in Trail, BC, and three more daughters: Eileen, Doreen and Lola completed the family. Maria and Paolo were very family-oriented and proud of their daughters.
Maria was a talented seamstress who also loved knitting and had a passion for gardening and flowers - especially geraniums. She was a wonderful cook, and extended family dinners went on for hours and hours with much laughter around the table.
Devoted to her family, Maria was also very loyal to her friends and always willing to help in times of need. She had a great sense of humour - and being silly with her grandchildren was such great fun for both her and them.
What is left is that we continue her legacy of being a loving family always united as one, A loving mother so gentle and kind, What a wonderful memory she left behind
Maria was predeceased by Paolo, her husband of 68 years. Left to mourn her passing are her two sisters and a brother in Italy; her children: Bruna (John Horcoff), Eileen (Charles Dent), Doreen (Ken Mailey) and Lola (John Mondin); her grandchildren Shawn (Cindy), Stephanie (Lee), Travis (Paulina), Leah, Carolyn (Jeff), Paul (Stacie), Doreen, Tyler, Marcella, and Shauna. Maria is also survived by seven great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Poplar Ridge for their loving and gentle care of our mother the past few years.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions there will only be a small private family service. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Maria's name may be made to Poplar Ridge Pavilion through Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC V1R 4M1, or www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
