Mary Diedrich

Mom was born in Yahk, BC, eldest child of Jock and Ruth Wardrope. She passed peacefully at the age of 88 at Poplar Ridge Pavilion in Trail, BC.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Al and infant son Bobby as well as her parents and her sister Grace and brother in law Leo Siega.

Mom is survived by her children Ted (Barb) Diedrich, Katharine Diedrich, Sharon (Neil) Thomas and Linda (Bob) French. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren Mike (Sarah) Thomas, Philip (Laura) Thomas, Krista (Jeremy) Shannon, Jenny (Mark) Anderson, Christina Diedrich, Stefanie (Marc) French, Curtis (Teala) French as well as her great grandchildren, Aliska Anderson, Marlie and Londyn Thomas, and Austin and Stetson Thomas.  Also, her niece and nephew, Sandi Siega and John Siega.

Mom loved to help people so, after high school, she became a nurse’s aide and worked at the job she loved at McDougal Memorial Hospital in Kimberley, BC.  She continued working while raising her four children until the family moved to Rossland, BC in 1960.

Mom found a new passion in the Girl Guides of Canada, becoming first a leader in Brownies and, later, in Guides.  She made a difference in the lives of many young girls, including her own.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
