In loving memory ~
On October 29th, 2022 the life of Melvin Moncrief came to a quiet end at the age of 94 years. Mel was a very active member of the Montrose community, having moved to the area in 1953 with his wife Kady and infant son Randi. Mel was a member of the Beaver Valley Curling Rink for 53 years, a volunteer firefighter, coached baseball and hockey and in 2001was named Montrose citizen of the year.
Mel worked at Teck for 37 years. Seeing an opportunity to retire early, Mel was pleased to enjoy just as many years of retirement as working years. This early retirement allowed him more time for golfing, gardening, camping, travelling, curling and spending time with his curling buddies for coffee and Chase-the-Ace at the curling rink in the winter.
Mel will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years Kady; 2 sons, Randi (Jacquie), Wayne (Brenda); 5 grandchildren, Nicoli, Brandon, Mathew & Kody (Marisa), Twyla; 4 great-grandchildren; Mercedes, Kentyn, Chloe & Everett. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
At Mel's request there will be no service at this time.
