August 26, 1953 - April 1, 2021
Michael Bradshaw, 67, of Burnaby, BC, passed away unexpectedly on April 1st as a result of a heart attack.
Mike was born on August 26th, 1953, to Garth and Mary Bradshaw in Belleville, ON. After graduating from High School, he went on to study Broadcasting and Journalism at Loyalist College.
After graduating from college, he worked as a Sports Reporter for the Intelligencer Newspaper in his hometown. This turned out to be the beginning of a life-long career based on the written word.
Mike went from there to become a Managing Editor for Enterprise Publishing in Winnipeg followed by a period of time when he was a Travel Writer for the Albertan Magazine. He then branched into Public Relations and Marketing, which saw him working with Provincial Premieres and Parliamentarians.
While residing in Vancouver he held a position with the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce and later, with the Northwest Territories Chamber of Commerce while residing in Yellowknife.
Mike was known for his generosity of spirit and would without hesitation give time to family, friends, and colleagues. Throughout his career Mike most enjoyed the opportunities he had to bring people together ensuring effective communication between communities, organizations and government, which resulted in several large-scale projects being brought to fruition. A favourite project took shape while he was living in Trail and worked with the team responsible for bringing an International Little League Championship to BC.
In 1989, he married Carol (Tabor) Bradshaw, and in 1993 they were blessed with their son Patrick William Bradshaw.
After retiring in 2017, Mike returned from Yellowknife and resumed life in BC's Lower Mainland. Aside from revelling in the extra time Mike was enjoying with Patrick, he worked diligently to maintain his status as a walking sports encyclopedia. Mike is survived by his seven siblings and his son Patrick. Mike is missed and we will forever remember him as a Father, a Brother, and a Friend.
