Brownlie, Mona Patricia passed away peacefully at Columbia View Lodge on Good Friday, March 29th 2013 with her family by her side.

Our mother was born on July 8, 1930 in Watson, Sask. She moved to Fruitvale with her parents and younger brother Barney at the age of 5.  Two years later, with the birth of their baby sister Jannie the family was complete. At the age of 15, Mom moved to Trail to start working at the “Company Store” until she was married and was ready to start her family. She moved the family to Rossland for a short while and then back to Trail.  Mom always had the coffee pot on for family and friends, where we enjoyed each other’s company. There were many coffee breaks sitting at her kitchen table looking out the window, watching the many birds and beautiful changing seasons. She dearly loved her home “up on the hill” making many wonderful memories with her husband, family and friends. It was truly her paradise on earth.

After moving the family to Trail mom then started working for “Simpson Sears” for a few years until she retired. She then spent many years cooking beautiful meals for banquets and many weddings at the “Elks” where she was personally requested. After retiring from that she started studying with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She always looked to God’s promise of everlasting life on earth, where she could have all the birds and animals she loved and a garden fit for Paradise. She was a faithful witness until her death at the age of 82. Mom loved dancing, fishing, camping, going for walks and puttering in her yard while listening and watching the birds with the love of her life, the late Bill Brownlie.

Mona is survived by her four children Beverly Warner, of Creston; William Warner, of Calgary; Linda (Rob) McLeod, of Fruitvale; Joanne (Norm) Murdoch, of Trail. Her sister Johanna (Klaus) Schrader, of Kelowna. Dear grandmother of Brenda Leigh Freed (Karen), Nadine Freed (Shane), Tom (Karen) Warner, Amber Warner, Candice (Kenny) MacDonald, Jessica Warner (Andrew), David McLeod, Lannea McLeod (Jenman), Deanna McLeod (Chris), Kris Warner (Andrea), Leslie Murdoch, Terra Martel. Great-grandchildren Tyler Woolbert, Jayden Grills, Colton McLeod, Layne Simpson, Levi Doucette, Ayla Luk, Ethan Martel, son-in-law Ed Martel and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband William Brownlie her brother Barney McNab and her step-daughter Barb Martel.

After the clouds, the sunshine,

After the winter, the spring

After the shower, the rainbow,

For life is a changeable thing.

After the night, the morning,

bidding all darkness cease,

After life’s cares and sorrows,

The comfort and sweetness of peace.
