In Loving Memory ~

Muriel Elizabeth Henderson was born in St. Paul, Alberta, on March 19, 1938. She lived a full life for 86.5 years. Muriel departed on August 24, succumbing to her years and to COVID.

She leaves to mourn 3 daughters, a son, grand & great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Her influence will live on in those she loved.

In life, Muriel was many things. She was a lady; she dressed well, always colour coordinated, and with a matching shade of lipstick. She married Jim Swanson in 1957, when he was a Steam Engineer at Dow Chemical, North of Edmonton. Mid-sixties, they moved to BC, where they "caught the bug" of the back-to-the-land philosophy.

Muriel embraced the lifestyle, farming, gardening, preserving, herding and milking a small contingent of cows, brushing the horses and cutting the lawns. How she loved her ride-on mower. And, she became the Abbess of a chicken barn, for 500+ clucking hens. When not engaged in farm labour, she sewed, crafted and made gifts for friends and family. Her hands served her well, and gave her great joy.

In mid-life, Muriel reclaimed her Metis heritage: her parental ancestors' history at St. Paul and from the Red River Settlement of Manitoba. That part of her life became very important to her. Bannock would send her into reminiscing, telling stories from her childhood years, about her extended Metis family.

In sum, after a life done well, our lady is gone, Her daughters laid her out in bright colours, painted her nails, and glossed her lips a lovely shade of peach.

Katawashishiw, en bonn fem; Goodbye beautiful lady.
