King, Myrtle Marion — July 20, 1922 – October 13, 2011
It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mom passed away in the evening of October 13 in Columbia View Lodge in Trail, BC at the age of 89. She was born in Kingman, Alberta and spent her early years in Calgary before joining Canadian Army Postal Corp. She was assigned to work in Montreal and it was there that she met her husband, John (Jack) King who was from Trail. They married on May 30 , 1944 and moved back to Trail where Mom was happy to stay for the rest of her years.
Mom truly loved her family and was a wonderful homemaker. She is survived by her son, Jim (Leonie) King of Genelle, BC and her daughter, Joanne (David) Carmichael of Kelowna, BC. She will be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren, Laurie (Garth) McKinnon of Trail, Donna (Michael) Podovinnikoff of Calgary, Brian (Kim) Carmichael of Courtenay and Ken (Delta) Carmichael of Kelowna. Mom adored her seven great-grandchildren – Erik McKinnon, Natasha and Miranda Podovinnikoff, Olivia and Kaden Carmichael and Sydney and Elliot Carmichael. Mom is also survived by her sister, Alice Konschuh of Edmonton and her brother, Ernest (Mary) Setter of Kingston, Ontario. She leaves many nieces and nephews who will remember her kind ways and beautiful smile. Sadly she was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 1986.
The family would like to thank Dr. Benzer for her kindness and her care of Mom over the years. We are also very grateful to the staff of Columbia View Lodge for being so loving and attentive to Mom – Mom loved all of her caregivers there.
As Mom requested there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Mom’s memory to a charity of your choice. Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services is entrusted with final arrangements. Mom will be cremated and interred with our Dad in the Mountain View Cemetary. They are together again after all these years
