Myrtle May Haas (nee Seib)

May 5, 1933 - July 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Myrtle (Myrt) Haas on Thursday, July 15th, 2021, at the age of 88.
Our Mom was born in Lipton, Saskatchewan May 5th, 1933, and was the youngest of 10 children. She moved to Trail not long after graduating. Eventually she started working at the Safeway store in downtown Trail (currently The Colander).
This is where she met her future husband, Ronald Haas. She stayed home and raised her 2 children until the passing of Ron in 1975. Not long after Dad's passing Mom went back to work at the Safeway store in East Trail.
She loved to knit, bake, make different crafts, and garden. Mom enjoyed house plants and flower beds as she always loved to play in the dirt. She was a kind and caring person, but had quite the sense of humour and my brother would tease her that there were 10,000 unemployed comedians in the world and you're trying to be funny.
In the last 5 years she had some health issues and ended up in a wheelchair. This hampered her ability to do the things she loved but she was a trooper and never gave up. Her biggest wish was to stay in her home until her passing and my brother and I are so incredibly happy that we were able to honour that wish and know she is at peace.
Myrt is predeceased by her loving husband Ron. She leaves behind her son Derek, grandson Cory (Natasha Zacher), Monique Bouvier Haas, daughter Dana, (grand-dog Coco), special family friend Kim Toneguzzo, 3 sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 13th from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Myrt's house. Andreas Schmitz of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM has been entrusted with arrangements.
