It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Elizabeth Nelson aged 71 on Christmas Day of 2017.
Nadia was born on May 16th, 1946 in Codroipo Italy to Cesare and Fides Tracanelli. Nadia immigrated to Trail, BC in 1952 with her mother and brother Gino to join her father who had immigrated the previous year for a job at Cominco.
Nadia attended the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Victoria, BC where she attained her nursing degree in 1967. Nadia remained in Trail until she moved to Whitecourt, AB in 1983 where she had lived for the past 35 years.
Nadia was an avid sports fan, knitter, painter, chef and above all else gardener. Her garden was her pride and joy. She loved entertaining friends and family next to her koi pond while trying to keep her three mischievous dogs from eating her prized tomatoes.
Nadia was predeceased by her parents Cesare and Fides, husband Donald Daye Trischuk (1948-1979), husband Dr. Gary Steven Nelson (1953-2006) and brother Gino Tracanelli (1947-2009).
She is survived, and will be missed beyond words, by her eldest son Mike (Deena) Trischuk, their daughters Luca and Blake, her youngest son Rodney (Janelle) Nelson, Sister Annie (Brian) Findlow, Brother Paul (Kip) Tracanelli and Sister-in-law Lillian.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Glenrose Foundation in her name.
A celebration of life will be held for Nadia at a later date.
