It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Nella (Ferraro) Howes, on Sunday, September 22, 2019 surrounded by her family at the age of 94 years.
Nella was born in Grimaldi, Italy and then traveled to Canada with her family in 1935. The Ferraro Family made Anabelle their home and also started their very successful family business where she worked for over 40 years.
Mom finally retired and started a new chapter in her life as a doting grandma: going to watch endless hockey games, ball games, dance recitals and music recitals. She also spent her time in her beautiful garden and home in Glenmerry where we all gathered for Sunday dinners. The rest of her time was spent with her best friend in life, her sister Esther: cooking, baking and knitting.
Left to mourn her are her sons Robert (Lily) and Richard, her daughter Frances, grandchildren; Ryan (Hayley), Kelly (Sham), Neila (Andrew), Robbie (Jen), Jessica, Kristen, Matthew and Sydney, 7 great-grandchildren, sons-in-law Dale Andrews and David Lloyd, daughter-in-law Charlene Howes, sister Esther Wood and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nella was predeceased by her brother Jimmy Ferraro, brother-in-law George Wood and sister-in-law Eileen Ferraro. Sadly, mom had to say goodbye to her oldest daughter Karen last year.
Nella's family would like to say a special thank you to Bruce and Irene as well as the staff at Chateau Manor, Rosewood Village and Serendipity Support Services for the wonderful care of our mother.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Francis dela Cruz, Celebrant. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
