Nicola Ripoli

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Nicola Ripoli on September 3, 2010. Nicola was born September 22, 1920 in Celico, Cosenza, Italy where he began his working career as a young boy working with his father in a horse and wagon delivery business. Nicola went on to serve in the Italian Army in the second world war and came to Trail in 1949 where he went to work for Cominco. Nicola met and married Inesse LeRose in 1951 and together they raised two children. Nicola retired in 1982 and spent his time caring for his loving wife. He was an avid gardener, and kept his family supplied with Italian sausage, wine, biscotti and bread. He especially loved the time spent with his granddaughters. Nicola is survived by his son Joe, his daughter Rose (Bob) Grace of Kamloops, granddaughters Nicole, Alayne (Daragh) and Bryanna. He was predeceased by his loving wife Inesse, sister Carmela Pantuso, brothers Ottavio, Elio and Ettore of Trebissace, Italy. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10:30 am with interment to follow in the Trail mausoleum. Father Gabriel will be officiating. Donations in Nick’s memory can be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Foundation. Bill Strilaeff of Personal Alternative Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
