HEINRICK - Norma, Doreen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Columbia View Lodge.

She was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 5, 1933 and moved to Surrey as a child. She married her husband Len in Hope, BC in 1953. They moved to Trail in 1955, then to Montrose in 1957 and to Fruitvale in 1967. Norma had an interesting childhood, growing up with several siblings was always an adventure, and she loved to share her stories with everyone. She was a stay at home mom, helping her husband build houses in the Rossland-Trail area.

Mom and dad enjoyed travelling around the world and lived in Kayseri, Turkey from 1976 to 1978. She always had great stories about living in Turkey and the friends that they had there.

She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they were all a huge part of her life. Her other passions were her flower gardens, birds and the dolls she had made and collected. She also loved to fish.

She was predeceased by her son Kelvin Edward on July 13, 1988 when he was 34 years old; her siblings Jim, Wesley, Don, Jack, Bernie, Muriel, Kaye and Elaine.

Left to mourn is her husband of 60 years, Leonard and her two daughters Lee-Anne Halifax (Gary) and Karen Thatcher (Tim).

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren Kelly Stykel (Bradley) and their children Cole, Isabella and Finn; Marlise Livolsi (Mark) and their children Mattea and Delano; step grandsons Aaron Halifax (Deana) and their children Austin, Mackenzie and Jason Halifax (Laura) and their daughter Jayci. Also, Ryan Thatcher and his daughter Hailey and Dustin Thatcher (Leah) and their son Emerson. She also has one remaining brother, Warren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Neil and Dr. William McDonald and his staff at St. Paul’s Hospital pain centre, Dr. Joel Kaila from Nelson, all the staff at Columbia View Lodge as well as the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. You are all very special people and your care and compassion was amazing. Many thanks to all of our family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church in Fruitvale on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 11:00 am with Reverend Ken Siemens, Celebrant. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with the arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Norma’s name may be made to Columbia View Lodge at 2920 Laburnum Drive, Trail, BC, V1R 4N2.
