Our cherished and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on January 18, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Olive was born in Poland on October 23, 1923 and moved with her family at a young age to northern Alberta. She moved to Rossland in the 1940’s and was a valued member of that community throughout her life, being active in the Legion and Curling Club, generously volunteering her time and talents. Olive was always happiest in the company of family and friends. She moved to Calgary in 2009 to be with her family, and certainly made the most of her time with us. In very recent times she carried her captivating personality into her new communities, those of the Agape Hospice and Bethany Care Society. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the staff who provided compassionate care for Olive and considered her their friend. Olive will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son David (Jeri), granddaughters Deanna (Duncan), Colleen ( Mark), great-grandchildren Gavin, Jacob, Rachel and Hannah, brothers John and Tom (Ester), brothers-in-law Wilf and Al, nephews Brian and Ken (Irene), as well as many other nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered with love by her many friends in British Columbia and Alberta. Olive was predeceased by her husband Bob Dixon in 2009 and by her first husband John Dellow in 1968, her parents Steve and Tillie, sister Ann, brothers Martin and Peter, brother-in-law Harry and sisters-in-law Kay, Mary, Lucy and Vi. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering to be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta, on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
