Paul Picard

May 8, 2016

It is with sadness in my heart that I have to tell you, my partner, Paul Picard, left for his final “voyage” on May 8, 2016.

Paul & Louise, as we were known around Rossland, spent our final night together at the Columbia View Lodge in Trail (BC). He was very peaceful; with beautiful northern lights over Rossland during the night and a spectacular sunrise as he was leaving.

He left this life with no regrets, his life was full of great travels, playing all his favourite sports and spending time with family. Paul had a sense of having accomplished what he set out for.

Paul lived fully with his cancer, doing everything he could to raise awareness and contribute to new forms of treatment for prostate cancer.

Discovering, learning and communicating were his greatest assets. Paul was always trying to make things better around him, as a teacher/trainer, ski instructor, tennis player, brother, uncle, husband… His thoughtful, reasoned approach to life was appreciated by many who got to spend time with him.

Our families are grateful to all those who were there for us in the past 2 years.

We had a great life together, full of travel adventures, skiing, hiking the surrounding mountains. Leaving his tracks on the slope, on a fresh powder day was one of his greatest joy.

The memories he left in our hearts are his signature of his passage on earth.

Paul was the love of my life and my best friend!

He will be greatly missed by the Picard and Lafontaine families, by his daughter Isabelle and by all his friends.

He was passionate about the mountains and his hometown Rossland, a place where we could have a simple and humble lifestyle.

When you’re out there playing in the mountains, strolling downtown Rossland or making a few ski turns on a beautiful powder day, remember Paul.
