In loving memory ~

Peter John Player passed away on May 17th, 2024, after a self-proclaimed "wonderful" life filled with laughter, adventure, and more love than can be expressed in words. A more generous, dedicated, and spirited individual would be hard to find.

Born in Trail, BC in 1943, Peter spent most of his life in the region he loved - the Kootenays - but an illustrious career at Cominco also took him on global travels, including a multi-year stint in Chile. He was a driving force behind lead smelter operations, E&M plant construction, and Andes copper production (though he never did manage to master anything beyond the present tense in Spanish).

Peter spent his winters skiing at Red Mountain, shredding Southern Comfort into his late 70s, and both skipping and sweeping curling teams to victory. His summers were filled with rounds of golf and time at his Kootenay Lake cabin, which was his "little slice of paradise". He cared passionately for that place right up until the end, preserving a family legacy, an incomparable sandy beach, and an infuriatingly complex water system.

Family was everything to Peter - he was utterly devoted to his daughters and grandchildren, all of whom will cherish his memory. We fully expect his presence to be felt on that sandy beach every time a kayak is launched, campfire lit, and laughter heard. He's also expected to maintain a strict watch over his favorite holes at the Balfour golf course.

Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn, and by his brother Gordon (Joyce). He is survived by his daughters Kimberley and Jacqueline, granddaughters Payton and Avery, partner Diane, and brother Douglas (Maureen).

At Peter's request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please raise a glass and toast a life so very well-lived.
