Steep, Peter William, long time resident of Trail, passed away peacefully at Poplar Ridge Pavillion on Friday, September 28, 2012.

Peter is predeceased by his wife Marie. He will be dearly missed by his son Randy (Kathy), daughter Donna (David) and grandchildren Erin, Justin, Amy and Derek. Peter is survived by his sister Del and predeceased by his 2 brothers Ray and Les, and 2 sisters Fay and Lois.

Peter was born in Lac Vert Saskatchewan on July 12, 1934. After leaving the farm, he moved to B.C. and never left. Before retirement, Peter spent his time as a heavy equipment operator. After retirement, he was often found up to his elbows in grease working on vehicles for friends and family. Peter’s passion was for stock car racing and weekends at the track. He was involved in racing since 1960 at Calamida and Northport as a driver, mechanic and “chief supervisor.” As a spectator from up top, he always had his eye on car 71 making sure his son Randy was doing things right.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful, supportive staff of Poplar Ridge Pavillion for their compassionate care of our father.

Honouring Peter’s request, no service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in Peter’s name to Poplar Ridge Pavillion Recreation Fund or a charity of your choice.
