In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the peaceful passing of Randy De Biasio on April 21, 2025. He was born in Trail on March 28, 1954, and was a proud, lifelong resident of the Trail area.
Recently, Randy was diagnosed as having a terminal degenerative brain disease. During his recent stays in the Trail and Kelowna hospitals, Randy was almost always his talkative, upbeat self. He showed a tremendously brave attitude in dealing with severe physical challenges and the terminal diagnosis, and in arranging and facing his passing. He chose to end his life with medical assistance (MAID).
The family wish Randy could be with us for many more years, but he lived a full life doing the outdoor activities he loved with his many friends. He followed his own path. From an early age, Randy fished and hunted throughout BC, the Yukon and northern Alberta. He thought nothing of driving sixteen hours in one of his personal fleet of Ford Explorers to get to some remote hunting or fishing site. Tales of his adventures were legend and often hilarious, and we'll miss his stories.
He helped to organize the West Kootenay Big Game Association's annual banquet and auction for many years. Randy enjoyed his annual west coast of Vancouver Island fishing trip with his longstanding fishing buddies right up to August last year.
Into his sixties, he bowhunted, sometimes alone on a mountaintop. Randy had a house full of awards and trophies and competed in archery contests for many years. He was proud of his participation in decades of wildlife and habitat conservation efforts with the Trail Wildlife Association and friends in the local area. His wilderness skills and knowledge were truly extraordinary.
Family was important to Randy. He was generous to his nieces and nephews, visited often with his aunts and stepfather as they got older, put together feasts for special family occasions and holiday dinners, and annually celebrated Christmas in Langley with his brother Blake and his extended family.
Randy was predeceased by his parents, Bev and Ugo. He is survived and missed greatly by his sister and brothers, Shannon, Blake and Derek, their families, and extended family.
The family greatly appreciates the GPs, hospital doctors, nurses, rehab specialists and other healthcare workers in the Trail area who provided excellent care to Randy over the past several years. You folks are the best.
As per Randy's wishes, a small family gathering will be arranged for a date this summer to spread his cremated ashes outdoors next to his beloved dog, Dusty.
Our family requests those who wish to express sympathy, consider making a donation in memory of Randy to the "KBRH Health Foundation" at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.
