It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. He was born on August 11, 1927.
Ray was predeceased by his wife Blanche, parents Oliver and Laurentine Gariepy, brother Roland, and his beloved cat Snowball.
He will be deeply missed by his children April, Glenn, Brenda, and Craig Robertson, son-in-law Dale Mahonin, daughter-in-law Karen Westeen (Kurt Bonde), grandchildren Jade Mitri, Jordan Workman, Hayley (Ryan) Andrews, Daniel Mahonin, Kyle (Cora Jenkin) and Felica Robertson (Ryan Turner), and by his great-grandchildren Isaac Workman and Lily Jenkin-Robertson. Ray will also be dearly missed by his brother David (Donna), sisters Carmen (Harry) Hamer, Elaine (David) Jackson, sister-in-law Eleanor Gariepy, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., with Father Don Wilson officiating. Bill Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Ray’s memory to the BC SPCA, Trail Regional Branch, P.O. Box 404, Trail, BC V1R 4L7, and would be appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Poplar Ridge Pavilion for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Ray, and for helping to make his last days as comfortable as possible.
