October 29, 2018
On October 29, Ray went to bed for the night and never got up again. His heart gave out. He has left behind a host of friends and family saddened by his passing.

Ray was predeceased by his parents, sister and brother. Left to grieve are his son, Ryan (Mabell), grandchildren Alexander and Sofia; stepdaughter Leanne; and brother Dennis and his family; along with many close and long-time friends.

Ray was born in New Westminster to Ray and Lillian Fraser. He grew up in Vancouver, hanging out at Douglas Park and went to Eric Hamber High School. Things were not easy for him, as he lost his father when he was 15, and was forced to make his own way in the world. At age 20, Ray joined Local 97 of the Ironworkers Union. He was a strong union member and enjoyed the camaraderie of his union brothers. He worked for many years on large construction sites throughout BC and the Yukon as a rigger, before he started running jobs. In his retirement, when asked if he missed work, he would reply, "I'd love to be working!"

Ray's celebration of life will be at the Trail Legion on November 17, noon to 4 pm. Please come and bring your best Ray stories to share. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence by visiting the family's register at www.myalternatives.ca.
