LLOYD, Robert Charles (Bob) – passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Bob was born on April 12, 1931 in Rossland, BC.

Bob grew up in Rossland, where he married a home-town girl and raised his family. In 1993, Bob and Marie moved to Trail. At a young age, Bob began working at the Valley Dairy in Rossland’s Happy Valley. Later, as the son of a bricklayer, Bob and his brothers often helped their dad on bricklaying jobs in the area.

In 1953, Bob began a long career with the City of Rossland as an equipment operator and foreman. He was well-known to local citizens operating his backhoe in summer and plowing snow through the winter. At the age of 52, after 30 years of service with the City of Rossland, Bob developed a medical condition that ended his work career.

Over the years, Bob enjoyed snowmobiling. His family was one of the first to own “Ski-Doos” in Rossland. (Approx. 1968)

Bob took pride in building his family home and owning and driving old pickup trucks. He was a dedicated father and husband; a true Rosslander, family historian, story teller, and master of one-line humour.

Bob will be forever missed and forever remembered by his dedicated wife of 63 years, Mary (Marie), his three children Bob (Fiona) Lloyd Jr., Kathy (Stan) Bowcock, David Lloyd; his five grandchildren, Mark Lloyd, Michael (Liz) Bowcock, Alison (Fabian) Esser, Jessica Lloyd, Kristen Lloyd; his four great-grandchildren; Jayden, Rylin, Peyton and Jaxson as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church in Rossland on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11:00 am with Reverend Ken Siemens as Celebrant. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
