October 13, 1959 - December 20, 2021
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Bob passed away suddenly of a heart attack on December 20, 2021, while in Cuba.
Bob was born in Rossland, B.C., on October 13, 1959, to Gerry and Jean Godfrey. He grew up in Trail and followed in his Dad's footsteps as a pitcher/catcher playing Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball in the spring/summer and as a hockey player in the winter. He was known as the "enforcer" when he played for the Rossland Junior Warriors (don't mess with my teammates).
When brother Brian passed away, Bob decided that life is too short so he sold everything he owned and moved from Vancouver to Cuba. He would enjoy life in the sun, on a beach, without the everyday worries of city life. Bob lived in Cuba for 14 years before returning to Vancouver 3 years ago. He finally had an opportunity to return to Cuba earlier in December of this year. He was where he longed to be, and doing what he loved, when he passed away.
Bob was predeceased by his Mom, Jean Godfrey in 2012, his brother Brian in 2020, and his brother Jimmy in 1980.
He is survived by his Dad, Gerry Godfrey, sister April Ius (Larry), and brother Ken (Debby), very special nephews and nieces Heather, Casey and Michelle Ling, Jennifer Fisk, Marshal, Marina, Curtis and Lisa Godfrey.
We will not be having a service, so please celebrate Bob's life in a way befitting him. There are lots of stories to pass around to remember him and fill our hearts.
If you like, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
