It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Bowen - a loving husband, father and grandfather - on July 23, 2021.
Bob was born December 14, 1934, in Rossland, B.C., to Stephen Joseph and Anne Josephine Bowen. He was predeceased by both parents, his sister Marie, and his brother Ken. Left to grieve are his wife of 53 years, Carrie, their son, Chris (Nicky), grandson Tyler, his sister Pat Dorey, and many much loved nieces and nephews. He is especially missed by his dearly loved cat, Sapphire.
Bob was known to different people by his many nicknames including Bobby Bowen, Biker Bob, GrandBob and GOUB (Good Old Uncle Bob). He was very social and outgoing, and known for his great sense of humor. He was determined, caring and a good neighbor.
Bob led an active life. He worked as a surveyor in many places throughout Canada. He was an avid outdoorsman with interests that included hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, scuba diving and especially riding his motorcycle. He loved astronomy and spent many years as an active volunteer for CASARA. He was also a very talented artist known especially for his paintings of sailing ships, seascapes, landscapes and many, many portraits of cats.
A memorial service will be held for Bob at 2:00 pm on June 3, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1680 Woodland Drive, Castlegar, BC, V1N 4J4
Refreshments will follow.
