Mazzei, Rocco of Trail passed away on Wednesday April 20, 2011 surrounded by his family at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Rocco was born October 30, 1935 in Bocchigliero, Province of Cosenza, Italy; immigrating to Canada in 1953. Married Patsy Ircandia in 1958 and together they raised three children. Rocco was an avid outdoorsman which included; hunting, gardening and time spent at Christina Lake. He was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Lodge and the Trail wildlife Association.
Rocco is survived by his loving wife Patsy, son Louie, daughter Brenda, son in law David Caputo and grandchildren Shailyn and Italia, sister in law Velia LeRose and Family, and brother in law John Ircandia and family; he was predeceased by his daughter Cathy August , 2011. He is also survived by his brother Leonard (Maria) of Trail, sisters Guiseppina and Assunta both of Italy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Fr. Matthieu Gombo, OFM, will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Bill Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with the arrangements.
