Rod passed away at home as he requested, holding Deb's hand. It was a very short warning he had terminal cancer. Growing up in Warfield, then moving with his parents and siblings to the lake side property on Kootenay Lake.
Rod was a Bag Pipe player with the Trail Pipe Band, he loved to play them on the beach. Rod was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many who loved his jokes, his sense of humour which complemented his out going personality.
Rod was a member of different social clubs and he participated where needed, for friends as well as our neighbours. He began employment with Teck (Cominco) in 1975 working in most plants until he Mastered the Steel Fabrication Trade. 37 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2012 to enjoy life in his way!
His many passions and hobbies: moose hunting, welding, fabricating, carpentry for many yard projects, vehicle maintenance, restoration on the 89 F-250 - 4x4, boat access camping at Christina Lake with Deb, Sasha, Chris Rae Anna and Jocelyn.
Took his sidekick Striker up to Violin Lake, water towers to run. Baseball in Rossland with the boys, hockey (Habs) and went with Scott to Montreal and watched the last game in person, visited the Hall of Fame - It was his Dream come true.
A Simple Man and Stubborn he was, he did things his way with a golden heart.
Survived by wife Deb (re: Murray), daughter Sasha, granddaughter Rae Anna, son Chris, granddaughter Jocelyn, Striker his sidekick, brother Scott (Jen), Evan, Matt, sister Susan (Pat) Jesse, Jonah, Mya McLaughlin - all of Nelson, Renae and Darcy Murray, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Herb and Hazel, brother in law Gordon Murray (Midy). Cremation has taken place.
Celebration of Rod's Life & Legacy to be held in the Spring for all to attend.
