MACDONALD, Ronald James (RJ) of Trail passed away on February 18, 2012 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. Ron was born to Nellie and Sparrow MacDonald on April 14, 1941 in Trail, BC where he was raised and educated.

Ron served the Militia from 1957 to 1960 and joined the Regular Army in 1960 in Vancouver. He was stationed in Bordon, Ontario for basic training in the Service Corp. and was later based in Petawawa, Ontario.

He moved back to Trail in 1962, married Joyce and he began working for the Columbia Brewing Company. In 1965 he started work at Cominco and bartending at the Union Hotel and Arlington Hotel.

He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 23 years.

Ron enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and socializing with friends. For the past 5 years, he enjoyed spending time at Willow Beach.

He was predeceased by his mom Nellie and his father Pius (Sparrow) and son Kris. He is survived by his high school sweetheart Joyce, daughter Bonnie (Kemery) and special granddaughter Paige whom he adored, brothers Ken (Sandra) of Regina and Terry (Teresa) of Penticton, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Legion Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 11 in Trail on Thursday, February 23 at 1:00 pm. All Legionnaires, Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary please attend. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ronald’s name to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
