September 24, 1935 – May 8, 2020
With great sadness, the family of Ronald Louis Minkus announces his passing on May 8, 2020. Ron was born on September 24, 1935 in Neepawa, Manitoba and raised on the farm in the nearby district of Springhill.
He graduated high school from Neepawa Collegiate and journeyed to Snow Lake, Manitoba where he worked for two years. Ron joined the Manitoba Hydro Lineman Apprenticeship Program receiving his certification in 1965. He worked in various locations during this time and in June 1963, married Sharon Motheral. In 1974, he moved his young family to Fruitvale, BC, where he worked for West Kootenay Light & Power Company, retiring in 1997. In 2004, Sharon and Ron moved to Kelowna, BC, where they have resided until present day.
Ron was predeceased by his mother, Jessie, father, Louis, and brother Jerome. He is survived by his wife Sharon of 56 years, sons James (Mary Louise), Wayne (Corene), and grandchildren, Mikaela, Malcolm, Rebecca, Nathan, and Marguerite. He is also survived by his brother, David, sister Constance (Barry), and several nieces and nephews. Ron had a passion for cars, hockey, baseball, and was a family first guy.
He will be dearly missed and in our hearts forever.
