February 19, 1939 - July 4, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Albert Nordquist at 11:55 am on July 4, 2019. Roy passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Popular Ridge Pavilion, where he succumbed to a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.
Roy was born in Lethbridge on February 19, 1939 and went to school in Nobleford. Later on in life he went to Calgary and received his diploma in Heavy Duty Mechanics. He went on to work for Cominco to ply his trade, then went on to enjoy many years of retirement.
Roy was predeceased by his wife Judy Nordquist who passed away on June 11, 2010. He is survived by his current spouse Sharon Radulvitch, and daughter Kim (Walter) Nordquist.
Roy was an avid sportsman who loved ocean fishing, golfing, curling and bowling. Roy loved to play yard games such as bocce, beanbag and horseshoes. He took on all challengers with vigor. He loved to go on walks through Gyro Park with Sharon and Ozzie and attended Music in the Park. Roy's love of children was manifested by his many years playing Santa at the mall.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, especially the care givers at Poplar Ridge, as well as the people he met there. He appreciated their passion as it kept him in good spirits. There will be no service for Roy at this time. His family will have a private family gathering in his remembrance at a future date.
