March 17, 1938 - November 8, 2021
Sharon Grace Mawer(née DeBruyn) passed away after a short battle with cancer on November 8, 2021 in Trail, British Columbia.
Sharon was born on March 17, 1938 at Trail Regional Hospital, to Jack and Myrtle DeBruyn. She married her life partner Eric Mawer on September 6, 1957, moving from her childhood home up the road to the Mawer farm to raise her family.
Sharon was the heart of her family. She loved having a good laugh and was known for her witty comeback, spunk and beautiful smile. While raising her children Sharon pursued music, travel, sewing and cultivating her beautiful flower garden. She loved singing in the church choir, and the sounds of her playing the organ or accordion at home created fond memories.
In her early years she could be found playing softball, bowling or getting the neighbourhood kids roped in to acting out a play she had written. Sharon traveled the world with her husband and often shared her pictures and experiences with others. Portugal, Greece, Fiji, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Hong Kong and of course Canada were just a few of her great adventures.
Sharon sewed many clothes for her children and grandchildren and in her later years began making quilts. She joined the Outreach Quilters group in Fruitvale, where she learned to quilt and her eye for colour combinations really shone.
Sharon is predeceased by husband Eric Mawer, daughter Dawn Hedley and brother James DeBruyn. She is survived by her children, Louise Mawer (Kevin DeBruyn), Linda (Ray) Wegrzynowski, Brothers Barry (Esther), Noel (Bonnie), David and Scott (Connie). Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Daniel(Krista) Aurora & Jasper Wegrzynowski, Kyle(Stephanie) & Finnley Wegrzynowski, Kendra Hedley & Asher Parker & Jackson Mclaren, Raelene(Taylor) Peyton & Paige Veno; Bradley Mawer; Linnea(Andrew) Max and soon to be baby Van Sickle.
