In loving memory ~

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Shirley Ann Buckley (King). Shirley passed away peacefully April 12, 2025, surrounded by family on her farm in Trail, BC.

Born on March 18, 1949, in Golden, BC, Shirley was the daughter of Norman and Ethel King and one of five siblings. She had fond memories playing with her siblings at the family farm in Golden and spending summers camping at the Shuswap.

On July 7,1970, Shirley married the love of her life, Hugh Buckley at Canyon Creek Ranch, the home of her Uncle Ron. They lived in Golden and Vernon before settling in the Pend d'Oreille where they built their log home. They raised four sons and spent over five decades living on their farm.

A lifelong learner and a woman of great determination, Shirley returned to school while raising her boys and became a registered nurse. She served with compassion and dedication at the Trail Hospital for many years, later working at Rosewood Village until her retirement.

Shirley had a passion for horses and was a talented barrel racer, often spending weekends at rodeos with her family. Later in life, she found joy in riding her bike, kayaking, gardening and watching the hummingbirds at her feeders. She loved long walks along the river with friends and her dogs Aussie and Dixie. Her love of music led her to sing for many years with the Trail Harmony Choir and the Trail Women's Choir. Above all, Shirley was incredibly proud of her family. She was a steady source of encouragement and unwavering support. Her home was always open, and she loved nothing more than having family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband Hugh, and their sons: Chris, Mark (Teresa), Craig (Tanya), and Norman. She was a devoted grandmother to Stephanie, Erin, Ryan, Olivia, Thomas, Tanner, Kayden, Hugh, Ephraim, and Elijah, and a proud great-grandmother to Izabella. She is also survived by her siblings Stuart (Sharon), Lois, brother- in law Randy, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Keith, and her sister Susie. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our extended family, friends, and neighbors for their love, kindness and support during this time. At Shirley's request, no funeral service will be held.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
