Johnson, Shirley – of Trail, was born August 17, 1923 and passed away with her loving family at her side on October 5, 2014 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.

Shirley worked at Canada Safeway in Trail, retiring after 18 years of working. She enjoyed ceramics, baking, gardening, lottery scratch tickets and was an avid hockey fan, following her son, grandsons and great-grandchildren with great enthusiasm; she was known as the “Howie Meeker” of the family.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Darryle) Kohlman and her son Gary (Vivian); grandchildren: Shane and Aaron (Amy) Haines, Jennifer (David) and Trevor (Andrea) Johnson, Courtenay (Kevin) Bric and Lindsay (Andrew) Hay; and her great grandchildren: Wayne, Blake, Camryn, Beckitt, Tala and Lucy.

Shirley was pre-deceased by her husband George; brothers Milton and Milburn and her son in law Wayne Haines.

A family graveside service was held at Mountain View Cemetery. Friends are invited to Shirley’s home, 1118 Marianna Crescent, (Sunningdale) from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014.
