Stephen Ford of Castlegar, B.C. passed away suddenly in Kelowna on July 14, 2021.
Stephen was born in Trail, B.C. to Jewel and Larry Ford. He grew up in Sunningdale and graduated from J.L. Crowe High in 1975. He then went on to University of Alberta and graduated with his Bachelor of Education in 1982.
Stephen then got a job teaching in Peerless Lake, Alberta with Northern Lakes College. He was there for two years, then moved to Slave Lake, Alberta continuing on with Northern Lakes College and worked there for 25 years. The majority of those years he worked as a director and looked after several campuses in the northern area of Alberta. He was always happy to get his time off too, so he could come back and be with friends and family in Trail, Castlegar and Nelson.
He retired in 2013 and moved back to Castlegar.
Stephen was happy to be back to ski every winter at his much loved Red Mountain ski hill skiing with good friends. He also golfed at Birchbank and Granite Point. In the winter months he would go to the gym the days he was not skiing. He spent many spring, summer and fall days at Renata - his life long family summer place.
He is survived by his sister Judy (Kevin), his brother Glenn (Debbie) and his niece Vanessa, Auntie Maxine and Uncle Cal as well as lots of cousins. He had many wonderful close friends from Slave Lake, Trail and Castlegar areas. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
There will be no service. Those who were close to Steve will have special memories to remember him by.
