Steven William Chorney, a long-time resident of Rossland, BC passed away peacefully at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the age of 81. Born September 13, 1931 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Steve is survived by daughter Debbie (Larry) Jorgensen, son Michael, grand-daughter Staci (Garth) Johnson; brothers Harry and Peco (Grace), sisters Julie Tupper, Pauline (Jack) Scopick; brother-in-laws Eugene and Ed Ruelle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was predeceased by his parents – Thomas and Mary Chorney, wife (Marlene), mother-in-law (Yolanda Ruelle), father-in-law (Edward Ruelle), sister-in-laws (Lorna Ruelle and Mae Chorney), brother-in-law (Percy Tupper) and Steve’s partner (Levenia {Lee} Remenda).

Steve worked at Cominco as a pipefitter for 26 years retiring October 1, 1991. He was a sports-minded individual who over the years enjoyed playing senior, intermediate and old-timer hockey all over the world, golfing with all his retiree friends, many happy days fishing at Kootenay Lake, and of course travelling. Steve was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will always be remembered by those of us who knew him and loved him.

The family would like to thank the staff at the KBRH for their kind and compassionate care.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Parish (aka Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Trail, BC) with Father Matthieu Gombo Yange OfmCap, Celebrant. A Reception will follow in the church hall with a Graveside Service to be held at Mountain View Cemetery once the reception is finished. Jordan Wren of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
