Apr 1, 1925 - Dec 6, 2017
Vera Lois Dudlyke (Rodgers), nee Hives of Silver City Gardens, Trail, BC.

Born April 01, 1925 in Brandon, Manitoba, passed peacefully December 06, 2017 at Trail Regional Hospital with her daughter by her side.

Survived by her children: Ken Rodgers (Babs) of Calgary, AB; Anne Boutilier of Warfield, BC; and David Rodgers (Julie) of Comox, BC. Grandchildren: Tammy, Stephanie, and Robyn Rodgers all of Calgary, AB; Elizabeth (Nathan) Taylor of Edmonton, AB; Cody and Georgia Rodgers, Comox, BC; as well as great grandchildren Violet and April Taylor of Edmonton AB. Then, you add all the children and teens that came to be hers for a time, long or short.

She will also be missed by her many friends in the communities where she once lived as well as her many comrades in the Lions Clubs, Royal Canadian Legion Posts, Hospital Auxiliaries, UCW, in those communities.

Predeceased by her husband Bob Dudlyke and her parents George Victor Hives and Anna Marsh Hives.

During the Second World War Vera served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Ottawa, Ontario.

Vera was an avid crafter, exceedingly adept at Knitting, Crocheting, and most other crafts which work with fabric, most of which she taught as well. She had a very generous heart and would think nothing of using her many talents and gifts to help those in need where ever the might be.

This wonderful, amazing woman raised more than her own children, loved more people than most people know, and was equally loved by more folks than most people meet in their lifetimes.

Known as Vera Dudlyke now, Rodgers before, Mom, Grandma, and Gigi; don't know how, but we'll have to learn how to do without her.

Service will be held on Friday, December 15th, 2017 at the Trail Alliance Church at 11:00 am; reception to follow.

Interment will take place at Mountainview Cemetery immediately after the service.

Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
