In loving memory ~
"Win" was born and raised in Trail, growing up in West Trail on Pine Avenue and later Topping Street. After graduating from JL Crowe, he apprenticed as an electrician at Cominco where he worked for 37 years.
He married Ginger Edwards in 1964 and moved to Rossland soon after. After his children were born, he spent much of his time as a swim dad (the only person whose voice you could still hear underwater), hockey dad (who could do up skates tighter than anyone) and ski dad. He loved to ski, both downhill and cross-country, and was a member of the Red Mountain Ski Patrol in the 1970s. Some of his fondest memories were times spent with family and friends at Cirrhosis Point at the top of Paradise. His retirement in 1996 meant more time to ski, spend time at Christina Lake and travel in his RV.
Win was predeceased by his parents James and Beatrice Baines, and brothers Kenneth and Denis. He is survived by his sister Jaqueline (Laurie) Bursaw, brother Beverly Baines, wife Ginger, daughter Pamela (Brian) Youell, son Gordon (Corinne) Baines, granddaughters Sarah and Amanda Youell, grandsons Sam and Jamie Baines and many nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In memoriam donations can be made to the BC SPCA.
