In loving memory of Yvette Lea Hayes ~
Born in Coderre, Saskatchewan, youngest of her 2 sisters and 1 brother. The family moved to Weyburn in 1934. Yvette left the prairies for adventure and a new life in BC in 1951.
Destination - Trail where her brother Ray had already relocated. Here in Trail she met Roy Hayes also of Saskatchewan and they married in 1953. They had a daughter, Renee (Tim). Roy predeceased Yvette in 2010.
Together Roy and Yvette enjoyed many wonderful years living in Montrose. Growing bountiful vegetables and fruit trees and rose gardens. Yvette produced delicious meals and preserves from their harvest. She was famous for her huckleberry jam.
They loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures. There were also many years of summers on Kootenay Lake for fishing and relaxing. Yvette enjoyed being active, known for her trips around Montrose on her bicycle. She also enjoyed golf, curling and X-country skiing.
Yvette believed in her family, church and community. She volunteered on many occasions to the benefit of her church and community. She would say "when you see a butterfly, that will be me saying hello".
The family would like to thank the Rosewood Caregivers who supported and looked after her.
