In Loving Memory ~
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Zachary Laird Zilkie on February 1, 2023 at the age of 25.
Although Zack was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at age 5, he never complained and lived life on his terms surrounded by family and friends whom he loved and loved him.
Zack had a kind heart and a gentle soul and we will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Zack is survived by his father and best buddy Jason (Wendy), mother Paula, sister Jordan (Dave), fur buddy Molly, grandparents Laird and Lois Zilkie and Ethel Zackowski, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends Dylan, Tyler and Jesse.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Garry Zackowski.
Zack was a lifelong Calgary Flames fan, culminating in attending a Flames game where he gave all the players a good luck fist pump.
Zack we are grateful for all the years we shared with you. Be free, be strong, be proud of who you were, know that you will be celebrated and missed and that no one can replace you. Until we meet again you will be forever in our hearts.
As an expression of sympathy, the family asks for a donation to be made in Zack's honour to Muscular Dystrophy Canada at www.muscle.ca
