Gun registry may be worth saving

During this election campaign I’ve encountered a few people who are upset because of Alex Atamanenko’s support for the gun registry. They’ve told me there hasn’t been anyone arrested because of it! This is untrue.

The RCMP has said the gun registry works.

The Mounties, who now manage it, said the arrest and conviction of Shawn Hennessey was made possible because of it.

It was Hennessey who lent James Roszko the gun he used to shoot four RCMP officers in Mayerthorpe.

Many Chiefs of Police across Canada echo the RCMP support; they access its database thousands of times daily.

Now that the huge costs associated with the gun registry have been brought under control, perhaps it’s time to reconsider opposition to it.
