Kudos for Games’ effort

We have been reading of late the numerous letters to the editor from participants that attended the 2011 BC Seniors Games from August 16 to 20. It gives us great pleasure to hear from these people who left with positive impressions of a community that is warm, friendly and welcoming and a place someone would want to visit again.

We have been reading of late the numerous letters to the editor from participants that attended the 2011 BC Seniors Games from August 16 to 20. It gives us great pleasure to hear from these people who left with positive impressions of a community that is warm, friendly and welcoming and a place someone would want to visit again.

An event of this magnitude, involving 3,200 participants, 25 venues and numerous social events throughout the week simply could not have been possible without the assistance of the 1,800 volunteers from three cities who signed up and gave of their time to help make these Games a success. It takes something like the BC Seniors Games to remind us how very fortunate we are in Greater Trail to have so many people willing to step up and help pull off a large scale event.

There is no question there was a great buzz of excitement everywhere we went and as we made our way around the venues throughout the week, we were amazed with the smiling faces and willingness by our volunteers to help our visitors.

On behalf of Trail City Council, I would like to extend to all the hard working, sports minded and community driven volunteers involved in the success of the 2011 BC Seniors Games our appreciation for your efforts. You are the reason why participants are saying these were “The Best Games Ever.”
