Thompson off the mark on Butler Park

I just wanted to know if Dave Thompson ever has anything positive to say?

I just wanted to know if Dave Thompson ever has anything positive to say?

His article from Friday that basically slams Butler Park and says that there are so many other “better” ballparks is just another reason why sports in our area are not supported the way they used to be.

We are trying to put our best foot forward and have our baseball park recognized as the beautiful facility it is.

The contest is not about who has the best grass, it is about atmosphere and history.

Saying that nobody cares about our park outside Trail is a bunch of crap.

I have coached in the Spokane league for three years, and every team down there wants to come up here and play because we have the nicest park any of them have ever played in.

The teams that attended the Trail Jays home tournament this past weekend raved about the park and its surroundings. I wonder if Mr. Thompson is eating his words now that Butler Park has been put into the top 16 in Canada, or maybe he is just sitting at home crafting his next opinion article that will cut down something else in our area.

He states that he has seen so many nicer parks, but I have lived in Trail for 10 years and I am at the park several times a week, and I have never once seen him at our park attending a ball game.

Perhaps he should try supporting the teams and facilities in our area instead of tearing them down.
