Trail boundary expansion benefits only a few

"We disagree with and oppose wholeheartedly the proposed boundary expansion of Trail..."

We disagree with and oppose wholeheartedly the proposed boundary expansion of Trail to include the Columbia Gardens Industrial Park and the Waneta Dam. We believe that this will only benefit the City of Trail and Teck.

Teck is the largest property owner and as far as we can see, it will benefit the company’s bottom line to the detriment of Electoral Area ‘A’, Montrose and Fruitvale.

As far as the City of Trail is concerned, it has not done much for its economic development and diversification in the past and doesn’t seem to be doing much for it at the present. One just has to look at the number of businesses that have closed their doors over time.

If the city could not manage economic development and diversification in the past and in the present, why would putting more money in Trail’s coffers make any difference in the future?  One only needs to look to see who is going to benefit by this move and we do not think the greater good of the communities in Electoral Area ‘A’, Montrose and Fruitvale are the uppermost in this plan.
