Trail shafted again in development coverage

Last Thursday (Aug 18), the West Kootenay Advertiser, an insert in the Times, provided full page narrative ads on the three cities hosting the Seniors Games.  The three cities are Trail, Castlegar and Nelson.

On page 8, the masthead reads “Let’s celebrate living in the Best Place in the World, Castlegar, happily ever after. Castlegar is a Fantastic Community located in the Selkirk Mountains and at the Columbia and Kootenay rivers.”  Wonderful copy for Castlegar and kudos to the writer.

On page 10, the masthead reads “City of Nelson boasts a vibrant economy, full of opportunity. We Welcome your enquiries.”  Great copy for Nelson and kudos to the writer.

On page 9, the masthead reads “Community Futures offers business owner and employee training that can be customized to your specific needs.  Check out our training calendar at futures.bc.ca or contact us at 352-1933.  Growing communities one idea at a time, Community Futures Central Kootenay”.  No mention of Trail in the masthead.

The page 9 article contains a small, grainy picture of Trail but it’s caption is “Discover the South Kootenay”.  What’s up with that?  Why are there no Trail phone numbers or coordinates in the masthead?

Why is Trail not treated equally as the other two host cities.  I urge Trail Mayor and Council to get some answers and ensure this crappola doesn’t happen again.
