Volunteers tops

On behalf of the BC Seniors Games Society and West Kootenay/Boundary Zone 6, I would like express our thanks to all the volunteers and the host society who helped make these Games possible.

On behalf of the BC Seniors Games Society and  West Kootenay/Boundary Zone 6, I would like express our thanks to all the volunteers and the host society who helped make these Games possible.

At least half the number of volunteers to participants are required, and they worked tirelessly for days, months and over a year to make the Games successful and enjoyable.

Over and over again, I heard complements about our young volunteers - how friendly and helpful they were. Way to go! Our president, June Parsons, was moved to tears at the Closing Ceremonies, and I - with apologies to Wordsworth & Co. - waxed poetic:

So how do we thank you, dear volunteers?

With a colourful T-shirt - and a few beers?

Well-meaning intended, such trinkets are brief.

Let me give from my heart my true belief:

That volunteers are special, unselfish and giving,

To make seniors’ lives all worthy of living.

Come and join us next year for the 25th Burnaby 2012 BC Seniors Games as a supporting member and/or participant.
