The Beaver Valley Nitehawks annual alumni game is hitting the ice on Friday to celebrate the organizations 30th year.

Four teams of former Hawks dating back to their inception in 1981, will compete for the coveted bragging rights and are looking to knock off the Kissock brothers, Darrin and Chris, whose team has won the mini-tournament three of the last four years.

“We are expecting a great turnout of former players and we want people to know that this is happening,” said Nitehawks head coach and GM Terry Jones in an email. “It promises to be some good hockey and lots of fun.”

Some elite former Nitehawks committed to the event at this time are Craig Cunningham (Boston’s farm team), Kevin Limbert (Yale University), Kellen and Connor Jones (Quinnipiac), Joey Baker (Portland Winterhawks), Lindsay Walker (Tuffts University), Chris Kissock (Redding Phillies), Aaron Hadley (Vernon Vipers), Mike Boisvert (Thompson Rivers University), Zak Majkowsky (Yorkton Terriers), and many others.

Some local old timers participating include Darrin Kissock, Mike Morissette, Kris Boyce, Jeremy Cominotto, Paul Matteucci, Paul Caron and the only Nitehawk to win the Cyclone Taylor twice, former captain Jarret Mason.

Admission is free with the Nitehawks encouraging spectators to donate a food-gift item to Sanctuary. The beer garden and spud shack will also be serving up a storm with games for the fun event getting underway at the Beaver Valley Arena at 6 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and the final at 8:30 p.m.

Former players can contact Mike Morrisette at mmorissette@sd20.bc.ca if interested in playing.
