In four games in Trail Commercial League Hockey last week, Re/Max kept their strangle hold on first place while Arlington doused Firebird, 8-2, on Cominco ice Sunday.

Re/Max shut down the Rex Red Army 7-4 on Sunday and eked out a 3-2 win over OK Tire last week to put a little more space between them and the Rex in the overall standings.

Re/Max’s Graham Proulx lit up the score sheet, tallying four goals and an assist in the 7-4 win.

Proulx started the scoring at the 18-minute mark before Jason Proulx replied for the Rex. But Graham and Dave Eccles would score before the end of the first frame to make it 3-1 entering the second.

Eccles meanwhile had a seven-point night, scoring another to lead off the second period, then assisting on two more of Graham Proulx’s markers and one from Devyn Hill to give the prolific playmaker two goals and five helpers in the game.

Dallas Stanton also added three assists for the realtors and Dan Divito scored a pair for the Rex.

In the Arlington win over Firebird, the Big A jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first period thanks to two goals and an assist by Matt Proulx, including the winner at 13:30 into the first period.

Mike Broyd started the scoring, taking a feed from Proulx and burying it past Firebird goalie Mike Kooznetsoff.

The Bird’s Eric Hill would tie it on a power play but the Big A would go back up when Mike Makway scored. Two minutes later Matt Langille tied the game at two, but 30 seconds later, Proulx would pop his second of three on the night to put the A on top for good.

The Arlington’s Nathan Ehman added two goals and an assist, while Jake Vlanich, (one goal, two assists) and Darrell Zol (three assists) each had three point nights.

In other action last week the Rex Hotel beat Firebird 6-5 on the strength of a hat trick by Divito and a four-point game by Jason Proulx.
