Black Jack Skiers skied to the top of the podium again on the weekend at the B.C. Cup in Kelowna.
Black Jack cross-country skier Julien Locke won gold in the Junior Men-2 10-kilometre free ski, and second in the 1.2-km sprint. Not to be outdone, juvenile boys skier Daniel Merlo won the 5-km free ski, and placed sixth in the sprint.
Geoffrey Richards outpaced the field in the 10-km Open Men’s free ski, finishing first in a time of 26 minutes, 27.9 seconds. Richards also came fourth in the 1.2-km sprint.
Abby McLean skied well in the peewee girls 1.5-km free ski taking home a bronze medal, similarly team mate Remi Drolet captured bronze in the midget boys.
Rossland’s Aaron Scott won the Masters 40-49 class in the 5 km classic.
Black Jack’s David Palmer will compete at the World Junior Nordic championships in the Czech Republic from Jan. 20-27.
