BCHL: The puck drops

The Trail Smoke Eaters open the season with a bang this weekend.

The Trail Smoke Eaters open the season with a bang this weekend as every team in the league travels to Chilliwack for the BCHL Showcase Event at Prospera Centre.

The Showcase will see all 16 teams of the BCHL come together over three days to play two games each – games that will count in points standings. Scouts from many NHL teams as well as Canadian and NCAA colleges and universities will be on hand to see players in action.

The Smoke Eaters play Cowichan Valley at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Merritt at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Following that they hit the road again to play Prince George Spruce Kings on Sept. 14 and back to Merritt on the 15th, before their first home opener on Sept. 21 against the West Kelowna Warriors (formerly Westside).
