The Team Canada women’s field hockey team is off to a flying start at the World League Round 1 qualifying tournament in Trinidad-Tobago.

After downing Venezuela 12-0 Sunday, the Canadian side led by Rossland’s Thea Culley blasted Guyana 10-0 on Monday, and Barbados by an 11-0 score Wednesday.

Canada struck early and often as it held a 7-0 lead at the half before adding four more goals on its way to another convincing win over Barbados.

It seems inevitable that Canada will be one of the top three teams that qualifies for Round 2 in its quest for a World Cup berth.

The national team has two more round-robin games remaining against Trinidad-Tobago, 2-1, today, and Uruguay, the other undefeated team, on Saturday.
