The Trail Smoke Eaters embark on a three game road trip with two new faces in the lineup.

The Smokies picked up Brendan Santini (93) Wednesday from the St. Albert Steel of the AJHL for future considerations.

“He’s going to add some size and some skill up front,” said Smoke Eaters head coach/general manager Bill Birks in a release. “We get a little younger too, and I think Brendan will be a big part of our future.”

Santini, a six-foot-two, 190-pound native of Calgary, AB, scored 18 points in 26 games this season with the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks, but was traded to St. Albert in a three-team deal on Dec. 1.

Santini will join Tanner Clarkson, acquired last week from Nanaimo, and both should be in the lineup this weekend as they make stops in Vernon, Merritt and Chilliwack.

But just because the Smokies are out of town does not mean the Cominco Arena will be vacant. The Rossland Trail Bantam Smokies are hosting their annual Bantam tier 2 tournament this weekend starting tonight at 4:30 when the RT  Smokies take on last year’s champs, the Spokane Chiefs.

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks play only one game on the weekend against the Spokane Braves at 7 p.m. tonight at the Beaver Valley Arena.
